Trash Cleanup: Help Keep Charlotte Beautiful

Sunday, May 5, 2024, 10:00am-11:30am

Location: 3625 City Park Drive, Charlotte, NC 28217 (we will park here and walk down Tyvola Rd to collect trash)

Go clean and green by joining Charlotte Wildlife Stewards in a trash cleanup along a stretch of Tyvola Road. Trash is harmful to wildlife and pollutes our streams, rivers, and oceans. Did you know that every 25 pounds of trash collected turns into a native tree planted by the North Carolina Wildlife Federation? That’s the green part! All tools and equipment will be provided.

Gardening for Wildlife with Alden Picard

Tuesday, May 14, 2024, 7:00-8:30pm

Location: Sardis Baptist Church (5811 Sardis Rd, Charlotte, NC 28270) or online

Join the Charlotte Wildlife Stewards (CWS) and NCWF Conservation Coordinator Alden Picard for an engaging presentation on creating backyard habitats. By providing food, water, cover, and places for wildlife to raise young, you can help restore and enhance wildlife habitat in your community. With the heat of summer quickly approaching, now is the perfect time to identify steps you can take, and to begin planning your garden with wildlife in mind!

Wild on the Water

Saturday, June 15, 2024, 9:00am-1:00pm

Location: Latta Nature Preserve (6211 Sample Road, Huntersville, NC 28078)

Register by April 15 and be entered to win an Eno hammock with straps! Our signature fundraising event is a guided paddle of kayaks, canoes, and stand up paddleboards (SUPs) on Mountain Island Lake at Latta Nature Preserve. Following the paddle, we have a delicious lunch and a fun raffle full of valuable prizes. Learn more and register on our Wild on the Water webpage linked in the button below!

Our programs and events are free and open to everyone.

Monthly educational programs run September through May and are offered in-person at Sardis Baptist Church and online. Occasionally we have a remote speaker in which case the program will be online only.

Other events such as creek cleanups, guided nature walks, birdhouse installations, invasive plant removals, and more are held across the Charlotte area and provide a fun, family-friendly way to connect with nature.

Stay up-to-date by signing up for our monthly newsletter.
