Pollinator Workday
Saturday, May 23, 2026, 9:00 am – 11:00 am
Location: Veterans Park (2136 Central Ave, Charlotte, NC 28205)
Last fall, NCWF Charlotte Wildlife Stewards Chapter partnered with Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation and Central Carolinas Master Naturalist volunteers to install a 1,000-square-foot pollinator habitat at Veterans Park in the heart of Charlotte. The native plants are doing great, and so is the encroaching Bermuda grass and other lawn weeds. Volunteers are needed to remove the weeds and Bermuda grass so that the native plants and pollinators can flourish! Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
“The Little Things That Run The World” Film Screening
Tuesday, June 9, 2026, 6:30 pm – 8:45 pm
Location: Independent Picture House (4237 Raleigh St, Charlotte, NC 28213)
In celebration of Pollinator Month, we invite you to join NCWF Charlotte Wildlife Stewards Chapter for a special screening of The Little Things That Run The World! Life on Earth is in the middle of a major re-alignment of species composition. The smallest of creatures – insects – hold the fabric of all life together. They are the most numerous of all animal groups on the planet. But insects are declining at an alarming rate throughout the world, threatening innumerable species, whole ecosystems, and even our food systems with collapse. This is story about untangling the mysteries as to why something so ubiquitous – and seemingly endless – could be on the cusp of disappearing entirely. It is also the story of heroic efforts to save these most vulnerable of creatures.
Moth Night
Tuesday, June 23, 2026, 8:30 pm – 11:30 pm

Join CWS and Lenny Lampel, Natural Resources Supervisor with Mecklenburg County (resident insect expert), for an exciting night of mothing. As the sun goes down, we will have lights and sheets set up to attract our native moths, and you’re certain to see some moths you’ve never seen before. Not only are moths great pollinators, but they are also an important food source for our breeding birds!
